My entrepreneurial journey has been anything but smooth. From scraping pennies to buy gas to navigating impossible clients and burnout, I’ve had more than a few moments when I thought about giving up. My Journey Through Entrepreneurship

From photographer to influencer, nomadic designer, design studio owner, and now cosmic business coach—my path has been anything but traditional.

  • 2012

    Started freelancing as a photographer while studying design at Portland State University, where my creative career journey officially kicked off

  • 2013

    Had my first design internship at Keen Footwear for 4 months and quickly realized cubicle life wasn’t for me. After that, I applied for every freelance contract job I could find.

  • 2014

    Co-founded Dynamo Ultima (then called State of Mind Studio) with my husband. We took on content creation, freelance design, and I landed a gig as a contract designer for Death to Stock.

  • 2016

    Graduated from college, bought a Sprinter Van, and decided to go fully nomadic. We worked as influencers and creators, kicking off our journey with outdoor brands like Stanley.

  • 2018

    Launched my first course, Work From Wherever, which taught people how to work remotely and build a successful nomadic business lifestyle

  • 2019

    Earned my coaching certification and saw Dynamo Ultima really gain momentum as a design studio. We moved back to Portland, and our client work exploded.

  • 2020

    Planned to start my coaching business, but Dynamo Ultima had its first six-figure year, keeping me fully booked with design clients and pushing coaching aside for a while.

  • 2021 - 2023

    Dynamo Ultima doubled its income by introducing VIP Days, courses, and templates. I embraced my passion for teaching and began offering courses on design and business strategy.

  • 2024

    Reignited my coaching business with a focus on astrology and business strategy, launching my personal brand, Lexi Cheng, as a cosmic business astrologer.

The not work side of me

  • Lover of boujee treats every now and then like luxury hotels or fancy champagne.

I’m obsessed with collecting pens, stationery, shiny objects, and all the colorful things. If you put me in a bookstore that sells planners, tarot cards, crystals, and plants, I’m basically there for the day.

When I’m not working, you’ll find me exploring my home Bend, Oregon: walking sunny trails, golfing, stand-up paddleboarding, road biking, mountain biking, going to barre classes, and going on adventures with friends. I love to play video games (sims4, borderlands3, and stardew valley) and enjoy hosting craft nights like paint n sip or clay making.  I also read tarot and oracle cards for my friends (and usually end up doing readings at every party or girls' trip).

Fun Facts About Me

  • Lived in a solar powered sprinter van my husband and I built with our bare hands for 3 years and traveled around the USA + Canada

  • Traveling and outdoor adventures are one of my biggest passions and I love to be off grid & get a little dusty and dirty from time to time

  • EDM festivals, concerts and raves are my happy place.

  • I am more of a lake girl than a beach girl- I could be outside and not shower for a week if there is a lake or river nearby (lake trash for life)

  • I’m currently reading fantasy smut (no shame) but also love business and astrology books.
