4 Myths That Might Be Sabotaging Your Creative Service-Based Business

These myths are often limiting beliefs that hold you back from growing your creative business..

I’m here to clear up some of the biggest myths that I see when it comes to offering 1:1 creative services - and things I used to believe were true myself

  1. MYTH 1: You have to dramatically increase your prices to grow
Raising our prices to be value-based - limited our accessibility to many business owners who couldn't afford our services and that's not what we wanted! The truth is, excessively high prices can eventually alienate potential clients.

  2. MYTH 2: Adding more to your services leads to higher income
There's a common misconception that adding more deliverables, revisions, and bonuses to your services makes them more valuable. However, offering too many options can overwhelm clients. In many cases, simplicity yields better results.

  3. MYTH 3: To make more money, you must outsource and delegate.
While outsourcing has its place, you don't need to build a large team to succeed. I've seen advice suggesting that delegation is the key to becoming a true CEO of your business and increasing your income. In reality, you can achieve more without hiring an army.

  4. MYTH 4: Discovery calls, custom proposals, and pricing guides are a must
Contrary to popular belief, you're not obligated to do discovery calls if you don't enjoy them.
You have the freedom to shape your business according to your preferences. You don't have to offer time-consuming calls that drain your energy, create custom proposals, or spend hours creating pricing guides for potential clients.
